ABOUT US
Dead Walk Fest is run by filmmaker and festival director Anthony Cooney, an independent filmmaker from the Chicago area with a passion for horror cinema and independent filmmaking. The festival was originally conceived by the beloved local organizer Willy Adkins.
Anthony's vision for Dead Walk Fest was to provide opportunities for independent horror filmmakers to showcase their work and connect with audiences in a theatrical environment. We believe that great horror can come from anywhere, regardless of budget, connections, or industry status.
Our programming celebrates underground, cult, grindhouse, shot-on-video (SOV), regional, and low-budget horror films alongside independent productions from emerging filmmakers. We are dedicated to highlighting unique voices and films that might otherwise go unseen.
More than just a screening event, Dead Walk Fest aims to build a community of filmmakers, fans, and artists who share a love for independent horror. We are committed to creating opportunities for filmmakers to be discovered, discussed, and celebrated on the big screen.
Whether you’re a first-time filmmaker, a seasoned creator, or a devoted horror fan, Dead Walk Fest welcomes you.
With events in Illinois and Florida, Dead Walk Fest continues to expand opportunities for independent horror filmmakers and audiences alike.
